Embossing or debossing is a simple process that adds subtle elegance to any piece. It is appropriate for brochure and proposal covers, binders and folders. It can be used to highlight text, logos, or other graphics and can be especially effective with foil stamping.

Embossing or debossing creates a dimensional effect (embossing is raised above the paper and debossing is pressed into the paper). With the use of a two metal dies, created from camera-ready artwork, pressing the paper between them creates the effect, while heat is applied to expand the paper fibers. Adjusting the dies to create single or multi-level images can create various effects. Ask your SBS representative about the various levels of embossing and debossing.
